Metamorphosis XIII

Mermaid, this short expression came as the mermaid image emerged from the clay...Dreaming, she slowly sinks into the ocean of her unconscious...Dreaming, she feels light and supported by the flood of images that float through her and touch her soul...

Metamorphosis XIV

Waiting (Bobcat Woman)

Bobcats have had a way of popping up in my life...the feisty creatures that hunt and raise their young alone.  Dependent on nothing but their habitat to survive, always waiting for the next hunt...

Metamorphosis XII

Transition (Raven Woman)

Three Ravens presented themselves to me telling me over a three week period that I needed to include a Raven in my series.  For me, she represents the transitions in life, the shape -shifting we do to live in this world...in this physical form.  She also guides us through the transition to the life beyond...

The dancing bear women. The piece started as an individual figure, then evolved into the trio of dancing bears expressing the joy of life that can be found in all creatures in nature and that we as people, sometimes need to be reminded of...

Dolphin woman represents the free flow, grace, and joy that the dolphin displays in playing as well as racing boats and ships.  The water animal relates to my own exploration of the subconscious.  The dolphin lady binds the two elements of conscious human and subconscious dolphin/nature with water.

Owl woman was inspired by the poem I had written:

a woman's life is often lonely, full of losses; often her lot is sorrowing. Yet out of that sorrowing we leartn the true meaning of joy...

Mountain Lion Woman came to me as a form of the strength and determination women need to fight through life at whatever costs.  The strength and grace with which the mountain lion carries herself is  what we often need in our own lives...

Endurance

The Tree Woman has been a reoccurring theme in my work for many years.  To me, the tree means endurance.  They stand through storms, baking sun, wind, rain and snow to bear new leaves in the spring and grow frut that bear the seeds of future generations.  Women are like trees...they endure the hardships of life, blossom, and bear the fruit of children that enable the species to endure.
